Senators Suffer One-Run Loss at Toronto
|
The Toronto Juggernauts claimed a close win over the Washington Senators, due in large part to Luis Basurto. The Toronto right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. Basurto, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 1 walk. Ignacio Noriega, who finished 4th in the EC in saves with 24 in 2081, nailed down the save.
The Juggernauts got a big at-bat from second baseman Hisatada Konda. For the game, Konda went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Toronto a 2-0 lead.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Toronto skipper Marc Arnold. "I can't complain."
Washington now is 9-11.
