Friars Get Dramatic 6-5 Win
|
The Chicago Phantoms got a superb performance from pitcher Susumu Shibuya, but the San Francisco Friars still won the game, 6-5. Shibuya threw 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Lyalya Markosiants, who is a seven-time All-Star, was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Gerardo Garcia. The Phantoms, 9-11, continue their sluggish start to the 2084 campaign.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when San Francisco left fielder Sean Oehlert, facing Danny Galaviz, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Friars the 6-5 win.
"What an exhilarating win!" said Oehlert.
