Yandri Vido, who finished 5th in the WC in ERA with 3.33 last year, imposed his will on the Vikings from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-0 Portland triumph. Charlie Petipas, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save. The loss puts Minneapolis at 12-7.

Vido was in the zone, shutting down Minneapolis hitters over 7 innings. Vido, who threw 101 pitches, allowed no runs on 3 hits. He also tallied 7 punchouts.

"Yandri knows how to get ahead of hitters, stay ahead of hitters, and put people out," said Portland manager Greg Carpenter.
