Athletics Suffer One-Run Loss at Minneapolis
|
The Minneapolis Vikings took Kansas City pitcher Alex Laso's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Minneapolis Grounds. The final score had Minneapolis getting past the Athletics, 4-3. Laso went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 5. Minneapolis reliever Chan-koo Bark picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Alex Saldivar absorbed the loss. Miguel Morales earned the save for Minneapolis, his 1st.
The Vikings beat the Athletics in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Dante Cuadra produced in the bottom of the seventh. Batting against Mark Curry, Cuadra gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"They were just a little bit better than us," Kansas City manager Joe Monagle said.
The Vikings, now 13-5, have been sizzling early on.
