Avispas Get Past Brooklyn for 6-5 Win
|
Daichi Sakai was instrumental in his team's 6-5 triumph over the Brooklyn Browns. The center fielder was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles for the Santiago Avispas. Santiago reliever Ivan Rivas was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Kyle Burch. The Avispas have hit the ground running, raising their record to 14-4. While it's still too soon to talk about Santiago hoisting their 3rd League Championship trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
Innis Walker, who finished 4th in the EC in extra base hits with 76 last year, chipped in a solo home run for Santiago in the top of the eighth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Walker.
