Athletics Overwhelm Vikings, 15-5
|
The Kansas City Athletics defeated the Minneapolis Vikings, 15-5, in part because of right fielder Ramiro Rexach. Rexach went 4-6 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for the Athletics. Roberto Rueda, who finished 5th in the WC in wins with 15 last year, was the winner. He's now 2-1. The loser was Santos Gomez. Losses have been rare for the Vikings, who are now 12-5.
Kansas City relied on the bat of Eddie Simon to get the win. The second baseman produced a run-scoring walk in the top of the first inning to put the Athletics ahead, 1-0. For the game, Simon had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Rexach said after the game.
