The Chicago Phantoms beat the Vancouver Wolves, 5-1, at Foster Field. Starting pitcher Craig Kruppenbacher was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Kruppenbacher picked up the win for Chicago, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. The Wolves, now 6-11, continue their inauspicious start.

Chicago took control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Zhong-shan Geng hit a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Phantoms.

"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said Vancouver manager Zach Meinen.
