Tucson and Los Angeles duked it out and the Toros came out victorious.
The Tucson Toros rode a solid performance from 24-year-old starting pitcher Feng Shuai to a win, beating the Los Angeles Stars, 5-2, at Stars Ballpark. Shuai yielded 2 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-2.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Etsuji Obata? The Tucson right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Toros on top, 2-0. For the game, Obata had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I loved our energy," said Tucson manager Rick Barnes. "I loved the way we played."
The Toros, with just their 5th win so far in 2085, have yet to catch fire.
