Browns Come Up Short at Phoenix, 7-6
|
Cole Chermak did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Brooklyn Browns from being beaten, 7-6, to the Phoenix Thunderbirds at Legednary Park. Chermak went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The winning pitcher was Wil Campos. He tossed 92 pitches over 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits. Alex Mendez earned the save for Phoenix, his 2nd.
Billy Morf, who is tied for 7th in the WC in triples with 1, helped out the Phoenix cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the left fielder went 2 for 5 with a double.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Phoenix manager Joe Busch.
The loss drops the Browns to 9-7.
