Victory Over Thunderbirds Takes Minneapolis to 10-6
The Minneapolis Vikings withstood an impressive performance by Phoenix third baseman Robin Stevens to defeat the Thunderbirds, 8-1, at Minneapolis Grounds. Stevens was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. Minneapolis pitcher Frank Macias earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Joe Gwin suffered the loss. The loss drops the Phoenix record to a disappointing 6-9.

Carlos Dorame had a big run-scoring triple for the Vikings in the bottom of the third inning. With Minneapolis leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a curveball from former first round draft pick Joe Gwin and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Vikings ahead, 3-1.

Dorame called the win "what playing unselfish baseball looks like."
