Los Angeles Stars pitcher Tadeu Carneira was in fine form, leading his team past the Tucson Toros, 2-0. Raiko Leon, the 27th overall pick in the 2080 draft, earned the save for Los Angeles. The Toros, at 4-12, have stumbled out of the gate.

Whip Lund had a big solo home run for the Stars in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Los Angeles leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from two-time All-Star Miguel Moquete and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Stars on top, 2-0.

"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Rick Barnes.
