Lobster Score Late, Stun Rangers, 3-1
|
Ballpark of Portland was the site of a tense game between the Buffalo Rangers and Maine Lobster.
Axel Mendiola, who finished 2nd in the WC in innings pitched with 214.2 in 2084, imposed his will on the Rangers from the get-go. Relying mainly on his sinker, the right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 Maine triumph. Armando Montoya, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.
Maine took a 3-1 lead on Jacob Testaverde's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Testaverde hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Buffalo pitcher Josh Trejo visibly frustrated.
Testaverde said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
After losing, Buffalo is 9-6.
