Aquas Shut Out Friars, 5-0
|
Yasuhiro Katayama pitched a gem to lead Houston to victory over the San Francisco Friars, 5-0. Katayama, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. The Aquas with just their 3rd win in 15 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
Houston used a timely hit from Ileanna Alfaro to get the win. The first baseman delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Aquas on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Alfaro attributed the win to "concerted effort and focus."
