Friars Win at Home, 6-3
|
The San Francisco Friars topped the Houston Aquas, 6-3, in Western Conference action at Staples Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of San Francisco pitcher Sal Mejia. Kevin Voda recorded the save, his 1st. Now 2-12, the 2086 Aquas have been dreadful.
DeMario Custodio had a big bases-clearing double for the Friars in the bottom of the second inning. With San Francisco leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 24-year old left-handed pitcher James Wilkinson and swatted a double to center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Friars ahead, 4-0.
"The tide will turn," said losing manager Brandon Coroian. "We just need to keep our chins up."
