The Baltimore Kings downed the Washington Senators, 4-1, at The ESPN Zone. The Kings were led by Koji Chinea. Chinea hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Baltimore reliever Jeremy Lanham got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Kai-xi Jia was tagged with the loss. Picking up his 1st save was 33-year old right-handed pitcher Gerald Blackman.
Danny Rubio, who is tied for 7th in the EC with a .640 slugging percentage, had a direct impact on the outcome. Rubio contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Baltimore up, 2-0.
"Watch and learn," said Rubio. "This is what good pitching looks like."
The Senators, now 4-10, continue their inauspicious start.
