Phoenix Pins 7-5 Loss on Toros
|
The Phoenix Thunderbirds withstood an impressive performance by Tucson designated hitter Jose Pedroza to defeat the Toros, 7-5, at Aetna Stadium. Pedroza went 4-5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Aaron Kopta was the winner. He's now 2-1. The loser was Taxi Sabala. Ko Morita locked down his 1st save.
Andres Romo had a big 2-run triple for the Thunderbirds in the top of the sixth inning. With Phoenix leading 4-3 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from 33-year old right-handed pitcher James L'Hommedieu and swatted a triple to left. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunderbirds ahead, 6-3.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Phoenix manager Joe Busch.
The Toros, at 3-10, have stumbled out of the gate.
