Minneapolis had no answer for 23-year old right-handed pitcher Al Joly. The Kansas City Athletics starter stymied Vikings hitters, helping the Athletics cruise to victory, 6-0. The win brings the Athletics to 4-8, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.

Joly earned the win to move to 1-0. In his 8-inning performance, he scattered 3 hits, striking out 7 and walking 1. The right-hander allowed the Vikings few scoring opportunities.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Joly said after the game.
