New York Downs Philadelphia, 6-4
|
The New York Titans spoiled a good performance by Philadelphia right fielder Xavier Santa, bumping off Philadelphia, 6-4, at Sony Field at Philadelphia. Santa was 1-2 with 2 walks and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Neil Parker earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game. The win for the Titans raised their record to 60-48.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Vern Berg? The 33-year old first baseman Berg stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put New York up, 6-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
New York manager Nate Beckman commended his team for "bagging a nice win."
