The Chicago Phantoms earned a close win over the Montreal Harfangs, thanks in part to Vito Pels. The Chicago left-hander played a key role in the 3-1 victory. Cruz Ponce recorded the save for Chicago, his 4th of the season. Chicago, at 66-43, holds down first place in the Western Conference Michael Fridy Division.
Miklas Shervill had a direct impact on the outcome. Shervill contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Chicago up, 3-0.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Pels. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
