The Santiago Avispas got a superb performance from pitcher Satoru Sugimoto. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Houston. The Aquas won the game, 2-0. Sugimoto threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Danny Mathews earned his 23rd save, after closing out the game. The Aquas, at 63-46, sit in second place in the Western Conference Michael Fridy Division.

Houston used the hitting of Al Anzaldua to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Aquas on top, 1-0. For the game, Anzaldua had 1 home run and 2 singles in 3 at-bats.

"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Anzaldua said.
