Brooklyn Beats New York, 2-0
|
The Brooklyn Browns got a magnificent performance from pitcher Yeniet Miranda, who muffled the New York offense en route to a tight, 2-0 Browns win at Polo Grounds II. Miranda, the winner, moves to 6-2. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up no walks. Ocean Mendoza earned the save, his 21st.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Don Zufelt? The Brooklyn left fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Browns on top, 2-0. For the game, Zufelt had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Yeniet pitched like a champ," said Brooklyn manager Jason Cormier.
Brooklyn occupies third place in the Eastern Conference Zach Gavula Division at 57-50.
