Aquas Roll to 9-3 Win Over Browns
|
The Houston Aquas bumped off the Brooklyn Browns, 9-3, at Tesoro Stadium. Craig Lightsey hit 2 singles and 1 double. He also had 1 RBI. Ricky Zika went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. The right-hander, who led the WC in ERA with 2.80 last year, struck out 4 and walked 2. With the win, he's now 2-1 this season. The Browns drop to 5-6 and continue their mediocre start to the 2084 season.
Shane Ausmus had a big 2-run double for the Aquas in the bottom of the third inning. With Houston leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a changeup from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Vince Tozier and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Aquas ahead, 5-1.
Said losing manager Jason Cormier: "We did everything to set the stage for them to beat us."
