Athletics Suffer One-Run Loss at Minneapolis
|
Despite a fine performance by right fielder Hisatoshi Morita, the Kansas City Athletics lost to the Minneapolis Vikings, 6-5. Morita was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win went to Lesley Deakin in relief, making him now 1-0. Elijah Yates took the loss for Kansas City. The loss has the Athletics at 1-1.
Had Carlos Dorame not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Dorame hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Vikings.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Dorame said.
