Metropolitanos CF Mejia Gets the Cycle
Jose Mejia was jubilant as the Havana Metropolitanos left the field with a win, 18-2, over the Seattle Arrows. He had every right to be.

The 25-year-old center fielder hit for the cycle at Power Ballpark, had a 4-for-7 game and added 5 runs batted in and 3 runs to boot.

"It's too bad I can't do that every day," Mejia said with a smile to reporters after the game. "It would do wonders for my batting average."

Havana manager Kevin Mayerhofer was "proud" of the center fielder's feat, but was not expecting it to happen.

"Cycles are tough because triples are tough," the skipper said. "As soon as the ball left the bat on that triple, guys were jumping off the bench for him. Honestly, I wasn't sure he was going to be able to leg it out."

Jose Mejia doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, tripled in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Naoto IIda in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th.

This season, Mejia is batting .233 with 20 hits, 2 home runs, 10 RBIs, .290 OBP and has scored 8 runs.
