Athletics Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Kansas City Athletics defeated the Buffalo Rangers, 7-6, in part because of shortstop Ryan Clifford. Clifford was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Athletics. The second-place Rangers dropped to 57-50.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Hisatoshi Morita came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Buffalo pitcher Ruben Filpo, he hit a 1-2 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Kansas City on top, 7-6.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Clifford.
