Greens Dumped, 9-8, by St. Louis
|
Lupe Corona did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Boston Greens from being beaten, 9-8, to the St. Louis Gaedels at Veeck Park. Corona went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Picking up the win was Carter Commiskey. He went 5 innings, allowing 5 runs on 9 hits. The right--hander struck out 1 and walked 1. Getting the save was Hector Roybal, his 7th.
Luke Zakharov came through for St. Louis with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. The designated hitter went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 2 runs batted in.
"Time to decompress after a tough win," said Zakharov.
The last-place Gaedels are now 41-66, the Greens 57-48.
