The Phoenix Thunderbirds stymied the Tucson Toros, 7-1, at Legednary Park. Cody McLaughlin had a good day at the plate. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for Phoenix. The loss puts Tucson at 6-5.

There was more than one reason the Thunderbirds beat the Toros, but McLaughlin's big at-bat in the bottom of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"We'll build on this win," said McLaughlin.
