Spectres Handed 4-2 Loss by San Diego
|
The San Diego Destroyers got a marvelous performance from pitcher Allan Tinter. The right-hander kept the Philadelphia offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-2 San Diego victory at Seaward Stadium. Tinter got the win, improving to 7-3. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Chris Whiffen closed it out for San Diego, earning his 1st save.
Axel Castiglione hit a run-scoring triple off Steve Jennifer in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Destroyers in front, 3-2. In addition to the triple, Castiglione had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 3.
"I like what I saw today," said San Diego manager Steve Alstadt, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
The Destroyers improved their record to 57-50 by beating Philadelphia.
