Destroyers Prevail, 4-2, Over Philadelphia
|
The San Diego Destroyers rode a solid performance from 31-year-old starting pitcher Arturo Covarrubias to a win, beating the Philadelphia Spectres, 4-2, at Seaward Stadium. Covarrubias got the win, improving to 8-6. He gave up 8 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The win hiked the San Diego record to 56-50.
The Destroyers got a big at-bat from catcher Carlos Tenorio. For the game, Tenorio was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 12th home run of the season gave San Diego a 3-0 lead.
"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Covarrubias.
