7-5 Win Gets Alaska to 57-46
|
Ryan McCray was instrumental in his team's 7-5 triumph over the Chicago Phantoms. The left fielder went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs for the Alaska Kodiaks. Mike Blain, who is tied for 10th in the WC in wins with 9, was the winner. He's now 5-3. The loser was Vito Pels. Juneau Beauchamp, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Kodiaks grabbed the lead when Alderaan Pike rapped a two-out single. Alaska was trailing 2-1, when Pike hit a 2-run single off Vito Pels to put his team in front, 3-2.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Pike.
At 57-46, the Kodiaks find themselves in first place in the Western Conference Eddie Izurieta Division.
