Avispas Make Senators 3-1 Losers
|
In a low-scoring clash between Santiago and Washington, pitcher Beau Eschmann was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned praise for his performance in the 3-1 Avispas win. Eschmann, now 14-4, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The Avispas have an impressive 72-31 record.
Yem Batista, who is tied for 6th in the EC in extra base hits with 49, had a direct impact on the outcome. Batista contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put Santiago up, 3-0.
"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said Eschmann.
