Titans Drop Contest, 8-4, to Miami
|
Miami Cyclones starter Victor Alonzo pitched effectively against the New York Titans at Polo Grounds II. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 8-4 win. The winner was Alonzo. He threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Corey LaCognata. Nestor Fajardo wrapped it up, recording his 16th save.
Yuki Soma had a big 2-run home run for the Cyclones in the top of the sixth inning. With Miami leading 4-2 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Corey LaCognata, who finished 3rd in the WC in innings pitched with 214.1 in 2079, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Cyclones on top, 6-2.
Soma told the Miami Bulletin: "I was born for the big stage."
Miami, at 48-54, holds down 4th place in the Eastern Conference Zach Gavula Division.
