Friars Capture Close Win
Getting offensive support from Lyalya Markosiants, the San Francisco Friars topped the Los Angeles Stars, 2-1. Markosiants threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball for the Friars. Edwin Maes, credited with the save, is now 10 for 12 in save opportunities. The win puts San Francisco at 58-45 this season.

Colin Cuyler drove in one run for San Francisco. The two-time Gold Glove Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Chase Kessler. It was his 6th RBI of the season.

Afterward, Friars manager Erich Weatherholt was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
