With 4-3 Win, Friars Improve to 57-45
|
The San Francisco Friars racked up a win at Staples Field, bumping off the Los Angeles Stars, 4-3. Ricky Sauri, who started for San Francisco, pitched effectively for his team. Sauri, now 4-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. Edwin Maes was credited with the save, his 9th in 11 tries.
The Friars got a big at-bat from center fielder Sean Oehlert. For the game, Oehlert went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 28th double of the season gave San Francisco a 4-3 lead.
"Ricky can overpower you," said San Francisco manager Erich Weatherholt.
