The Havana Metropolitanos put one in the win column with an opening day 5-2 triumph over the Philadelphia Spectres. The crowd at Estadio Latinoamericano watched Andy Gonzales put on a fine performance. Havana reliever David Calzacorta picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jeong Lee was tagged with the loss.
Gonzales had a timely hit for Havana in the bottom of the sixth. With Havana trailing 2-1, he turned a 1-0 changeup into a bases-clearing double. It was his 1st double of the season, making it 4-2, Havana.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Gonzales told the Havana News.
