Rangers Deal Havana 5-2 Defeat
The bad news for the Havana Metropolitanos: an opening day loss, 5-2, to the Buffalo Rangers at Estadio Latinoamericano. The good news: it was just game one in a long season. No one played better than Bejo Ananas. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI. Julius Miller, who finished 4th in the EC in innings pitched with 215.2 last year, was the winner. He's now 1-0. The loser was Joyee Cameron. Picking up the save was former first round draft pick Lupe Sandoval.

With Buffalo leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Ananas hit a fastball from Benito Cossutta for a bases-clearing double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Rangers ahead, 5-1.

"I thought we played a nice game," Ananas told the Buffalo Daily. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
