Houston Falls Again, 4-2

The Kansas City Athletics handed the Houston Aquas a 4-2 defeat at Ballpark of Missouri. Left Fielder Harold Pond starred for Kansas City. He was 1-1 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Eduardo Leon was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Keishi Okamoto got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
With Kansas City trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Pond hit a fastball from Ron Gelsomino for a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Athletics ahead, 3-2.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Kansas City skipper Joe Monagle. "I can't complain."
The losses continue to mount for Houston, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
