|
Alaska Kodiaks starter Alan Batten hurled his team past the Toronto Juggernauts, 4-1. The winner was Batten. He threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Antonio Avellaneda. The Kodiaks, at 65-34, sit in first place in the Western Conference Eddie Izurieta Division.
Alaska used a well-timed hit by Marcos Hiciano to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Kodiaks ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I didn't leave too many pitches out over the plate," said Batten.
