6-5 Loss to Phantoms Extends Los Angeles Losing Streak
The Chicago Phantoms overcame a pretty good performance by Los Angeles left fielder Jose Gonzales, beating the Stars, 6-5, at Stars Ballpark. Gonzales went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Adrian Portuondo, now 5-3, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Los Angeles is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 8 in a row.

Henry Sosa came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The pinch hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Afterward, Los Angeles manager Pat Kaers said: "Every team has a bad week."
