Kings Get Extra-Inning, 3-2 Win
|
Fans who congregated at Mount Royal Park were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Baltimore Kings earned a close win over the Montreal Harfangs, thanks in part to Korey Sanders. The Baltimore left-hander, who is tied for 2nd in the EC in complete games with 1, played a key role in the 10-inning, 3-2 victory. Jeremy Lanham earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record is now 6-1. The save was credited to Yasniel Ramirez, his 3rd.
Heater Watkins, who is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, had a direct impact on the outcome. Watkins contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Baltimore up, 3-2.
Said Watkins: "It's just one win, but it feels like more when you outlast a tough opponent."
Baltimore now sits at 50-49, while Montreal falls to 56-43.
