The Chicago Phantoms earned a win at Foster Field, knocking off the San Diego Destroyers, 5-3. On the bump for Chicago was right-hander Jake Orthman. He had a starring role in the triumph. Orthman, now 10-8, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. The win elevated the Phantoms to 58-41.

Chicago took control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Alberto Guardiola hit a run-scoring single to make it 4-3, Phantoms.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Guardiola told the Chicago Daily. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
