The Portland Dragons defeated the Philadelphia Spectres, 8-4, in part because of designated hitter Jairo Cedillo. Cedillo went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Dragons. Portland is now 53-44. Philadelphia is 44-54.

Portland used a clutch at-bat from Shigenobu Shimamoto to capture the win. The pinch hitter hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Dragons ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a humdinger.

"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Cedillo.
