Vancouver Earns 7-6 Win
|
Vancouver right fielder John Sauve played a vital role in his team's 7-6 conquest of Houston. He was 2-4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for Vancouver. Vancouver reliever Dave Perez snagged the win, upping his record to 2-0. David Cruz shouldered the loss. Ron Trevathan recorded the save, his 1st.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Per Fronteira came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Houston pitcher David Cruz, he hit a 2-2 forkball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Vancouver on top, 5-4.
"It makes it a little nicer in the clubhouse when we win," said Sauve. "It eases the tension."
The Wolves, now 8-2, have had a terrific start to the season.
