The Phoenix Thunderbirds picked up a win at Ballpark of Portland, knocking off the Maine Lobster, 7-4. On the mound for Phoenix was right-hander Rafael Morales. He played a key role in the triumph. The Thunderbirds, at 36-62, sit in last place in the Western Conference Duviel Zaldivar Division.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Erleisi Valido? The Phoenix first baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Thunderbirds on top, 4-2. For the game, Valido had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Rafael's a gamer," said Phoenix manager Joe Busch. "Glad he's on our side."
