Denver Wins, 1-0, Over Friars
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Denver Glaciers and the San Francisco Friars, Raul Garibaldi was the X factor. The Denver right-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. Denver reliever Olaf Bax got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Bill Zamora was tagged with the loss. Adam Mimnaugh earned his 22nd save, after closing out the game.
Chris Eighmy, who finished 5th in the WC in runs with 109 in 2082, had a direct impact on the outcome. Eighmy contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth inning to put Denver up, 1-0.
"I just love going out and having a big game," Garibaldi said. "The limelight's never bothered me."
The 4th-place Friars have lost 7 straight games.
