Browns Top Senators to Even Record
|
The Washington Senators had to reckon with Brooklyn Browns hurler Vince Tozier. Tozier, who is tied for 6th in the EC in quality starts with 11, overwhelmed the opposition in the 6-0 Browns triumph. At 48-48, the Browns claim third place in the Eastern Conference Zach Gavula Division.
Jimmy Keener had a big 2-run double for the Browns in the bottom of the first inning. With Brooklyn leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a knuckle curve from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Hawk Hartshorn and swatted a double to left. It was his 19th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Browns ahead, 3-0.
"Vince's stuff looked really, really crisp," said Jason Cormier, the Browns manager.
