Gaedels Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Cyclones, 7-2
|
St. Louis took on Miami in front of a lively crowd.
Riding the 3-hit performance of the five-time All-Star Geri Rengifo, the St. Louis Gaedels defeated the Miami Cyclones, 7-2. The winner in relief was Hector Roybal. He is now 4-1. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings.
Had Luis Nungaray not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Nungaray hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Gaedels.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Nungaray said.
The Gaedels sport a record of 34-62.
