Vikings Earn 9-5 Home Win
|
The Minneapolis Vikings beat the Alaska Kodiaks, 9-5, at Minneapolis Grounds. Carlos Dorame starred for Minneapolis. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He scored 3 runs. Minneapolis starter Josh Hawes was credited with the win after throwing 112 pitches over 7.1 innings. His record now stands at 9-3. The Western Conference Mike Stump Division-leading Vikings are 56-38.
Minneapolis center fielder Marvin Jackson contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 53rd hit of the season and put the Vikings ahead, 2-1.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Jackson.
