Spectres Capture Extra-Inning Win
|
The Tucson Toros and Philadelphia Spectres provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Philadelphia Spectres beat the Tucson Toros, 4-3, in 11 innings at Aetna Stadium. Ron Gideon, in particular, was impressive. He went 4 for 5 with 3 doubles, while scoring 2 runs. Philadelphia is now 49-44, Tucson 47-47.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Eddie Kelly? The 33-year old second baseman Kelly stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put Philadelphia up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I'll play 10 innings, I'll play 20," said Spectres manager Ryan Huff. "Whatever it takes to win the ballgame."
