Sarmiento Excels in 8-5 San Diego Win
|
A good performance from catcher Tom Sarmiento helped the San Diego Destroyers defeat the Tucson Toros, 8-5. Sarmiento went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Destroyers. The Toros, at 39-52, have lost 4 straight games.
The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Sarmiento delivered big-time for San Diego, stroking a dramatic grand slam home run off Edwin Castaneda. The game-changing hit put the Destroyers on top, 8-4.
"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Sarmiento told the San Diego News.
