The Alaska Kodiaks overcame a good performance by Houston center fielder Raul Samaniego to knock off Houston, 6-5, at Tundradome. Samaniego went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The triumph puts Alaska at 50-40 for the season.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Alaska right fielder Tillmam Velado, facing Antonio Equihua, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Kodiaks the 6-5 win.
"This place was electric at the end," Velado said.
