Kings Pop Cyclones, 10-1
|
The Baltimore Kings scooped up a win at AT&T Park, dumping the Miami Cyclones, 10-1. Carl Rodda, who finished 5th in the EC in wins with 14 last year, was essential to his team's success. The winner was Rodda. He threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Ed Rice. Baltimore improves to 54-36 with the win. They lead their division by 3 games.
Heater Watkins had a big 2-run home run for the Kings in the bottom of the second inning. With Baltimore leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a splitter from Ed Rice and swatted a home run to center. It was his 12th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Kings ahead, 3-0.
Miami manager Chris Stephan called the blowout loss "nothing to write home about."
