Buffalo Beats St. Louis, 5-0
|
Buffalo Rangers starter Jesse Collins turned in a top-notch performance against the St. Louis Gaedels at Veeck Park. The result was a win for the Rangers, 5-0. Collins, now 1-1, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The Rangers, now 9-1, have had a terrific start to the season.
Buffalo used the hitting of Bobby Rojas to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Rangers on top, 3-0. For the game, Rojas had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
St. Louis manager Mak Dolnick, after yet another defeat, said: "We don't want to panic. At the same time, we need to stop the bleeding."
